About Scott Conard, MD

Career

Dr. Scott Conard has dedicated his career to reshaping the way we think about health and well-being. His journey began in a household deeply immersed in medicine; as the son of a family doctor, he grew up witnessing how thoughtfully designed healthcare systems could support individuals as they aged, ensuring they spent meaningful time with their loved ones. This early exposure instilled in him a profound commitment to advancing both the science and the art of medicine.

After earning his medical degree in 1986 from the University of South Florida, where he researched geriatrics and retirement communities with support from the National Council on Aging, Dr. Conard completed his residency at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. His rotations at University of Texas Southwestern-affiliated programs broadened his expertise, and he quickly built a thriving practice, initially focusing on geriatric care in nursing facilities.

In 1996, a turning point came when three of his patients, all in their 40s, passed away unexpectedly despite receiving top-tier care. Deeply affected, Dr. Conard embarked on an 18-year exploration into cutting-edge Western medicine, Eastern practices, mind-body medicine, and lifestyle therapies. He became board-certified in bariatric medicine, a Certified Diabetes Educator, and an expert in behavioral sleep medicine, teaching over 600 programs worldwide to educate healthcare providers.

In 2003, Dr. Conard founded TienaHealth Medical Group, where an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals—including chiropractors, naturopaths, psychologists, and acupuncturists—delivered comprehensive care centered on patients\u2019 well-being. Recognizing that healthcare required not only advanced treatments but also a proactive approach, he pioneered initiatives like "The Game of Health," engaging employers and employees alike to improve health outcomes through education and tailored wellness programs.

His leadership extended beyond clinical practice. As Chief Medical and Strategy Officer at Medical Edge, a 510-provider health system, Dr. Conard implemented innovative patient-centered medical home models that enhanced care quality and efficiency, earning national recognition. Under his guidance, Medical Edge achieved measurable improvements in chronic disease management, preventive care, and patient satisfaction, contributing to its acquisition by Texas Health Resources in 2010.

Today, Dr. Conard collaborates with employers, healthcare organizations, and community leaders to foster environments where individuals can thrive. He has advised organizations such as Sabre Holdings, Alcon Labs, and the Federal Reserve Bank, aligning health incentives and removing inefficiencies to save millions of dollars while improving employee well-being. His insights have been shared on prestigious platforms, including The Aspen Institute and the Texas Business Group on Health.

Dr. Conard philosophy emphasizes prevention, teamwork, and empowerment. He believes that the most effective healthcare systems equip patients with tools to understand their health long before diseases manifest. By addressing stress, mental health, and lifestyle factors, he helps communities achieve holistic wellness.

Whether teaching medical students, consulting with corporations, or practicing medicine, Dr. Conard mission remains steadfast: to add years to life and life to years. Guided by the concept of "tienahealth" being whole and complete physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
